Just minutes south of the house, Pea Island National Wildlife 
Refuge is a spectacular stop for birdwatching and nature walks 
along both the sound and ocean shores. Over 365 bird species 
have been spotted here — a must for nature lovers.
 
🏛️ CAPE HATTERAS NATIONAL SEASHORE
Cape Hatteras National Seashore surrounds Salvo, offering miles 
of undeveloped beach perfect for surf fishing, shelling, and 
4WD beach driving. The iconic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is about 
30 minutes south in Buxton — well worth the visit.

has been serving the Rodanthe, Waves, and Salvo community
